Drama erupted mid-air on Monday as Nigerian media personality Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, popularly known as Mr Jollof, and social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, aka VeryDarkMan (VDM), engaged in a physical altercation aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight.
The incident, captured in a viral video, reportedly occurred on a flight from Asaba, Delta State, to Lagos, showing both men trading blows inside the aircraft.
Their feud had been brewing online, intensified by VDM’s earlier allegations involving Mr Jollof’s wife and alleged ties to cyber fraudsters—sparking widespread controversy on social media.
Shortly after the incident, VDM confirmed the confrontation via his Facebook page, claiming he had “dealt with” Mr Jollof. In a follow-up video, he displayed bite marks on his torso, alleging, “He bit me… a grown man biting, what a shame. I got on the plane, saw him, and said, ‘You will slap me today.’ He punched me. Now he’s ruined my tattoo with his unbrushed teeth.”
VDM further taunted, “I’ve beaten Jollof’s father on a plane.”
Meanwhile, Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has requested more details as the agency investigates the in-flight fracas.
