Excitement is in the air as ValueJet Airlines is set to begin operations at Gateway International Airport (GWI), Ogun State, with two scheduled flights weekly—on Tuesdays and Thursdays—starting Thursday, October 7.
This development comes after regulatory agencies gave the state-of-the-art airport the green light to commence commercial operations.
According to the flight schedule, the airline will operate a GWI–Abuja route, departing GWI at 8:30 a.m. and arriving in Abuja at 9:45 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.
The return flight will depart Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 4:00 p.m. and arrive at GWI by 5:15 p.m.
A statement from the airline says ticket sales will begin Thursday, September 25, and will be available online, through travel agents, and at ticket counters at the Gateway International Airport.
With this announcement, travellers from Ibadan, across Ogun State, and in Abuja and Lagos will now have air connectivity through Ogun State—while enjoying world-class airport facilities at GWI.
Business executives, industrialists, government officials, bankers, contractors, and leisure travellers are said to be particularly eager to fly in and out of GWI, given its convenience and easy access to Lagos and surrounding areas.
