The United States Embassy Abuja has signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ilorin Innovation Hub, marking its first public-private partnership outside the American Spaces Network.
The agreement, announced in Abuja, is aimed at expanding U.S. engagement in Kwara State’s growing technology ecosystem, with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI), STEM education, and professional development.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Public Diplomacy Counselor Lee McManis described the partnership as “an important milestone” in advancing innovation-driven trade and investment between Nigeria and the United States.
He noted that Kwara State is emerging as a technology hub, attracting interest from American companies seeking opportunities for collaboration and competition in the sector.
Under the MoU, both parties will roll out programmes showcasing American leadership in technology and innovation, while also providing business English and STEM training to equip Nigerian professionals with skills aligned to U.S. industry standards.
The initiative underscores a shared commitment to strengthening innovation, education, and economic growth.
McManis added that the agreement reflects a joint vision that “innovation, education, and opportunity are the foundations of a safer, stronger, and more prosperous future” for both countries.
