The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) regretfully announces another fatal road accident within 24 hours, which occurred at the Idi-Iroko inward Ogolonto axis of Ikorodu Road. The crash resulted in the tragic death of one individual and left two others severely injured.
Preliminary investigations by security operatives revealed that a fully loaded commercial Mazda bus (registration number: LND 490 SD), while recklessly attempting to gain right of way from the Agric axis, collided with a fast-moving, fully loaded truck (registration number: EKY 121 YJ).
In the tragic incident, a passenger sitting at the doorway of the bus was ejected from the vehicle and fatally crushed under the truck’s rear tyres. LASTMA operatives swiftly rescued two other passengers—a male and a female—with serious injuries and handed them over to the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), who transported them to Ikorodu General Hospital for emergency care.
The remains of the deceased were later released to his family by officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
The rescue operation was supported by personnel from the Owutu Police Division. To ensure free vehicular flow, LASTMA officials promptly evacuated the accidented vehicles from the road.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and urged all motorists to exercise caution, patience, and civic responsibility, particularly on high-traffic routes like the Ikorodu corridor.
