President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has summoned no fewer than 76 leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State to the Presidential Villa in Abuja amid growing concerns over internal discontent ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The meeting, which was held late at night, reportedly followed an intelligence report submitted by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
According to Sunday PUNCH, the report allegedly warned that several influential APC leaders in Osun State felt sidelined in the running of the party and the ongoing governorship campaign.
The development has raised concerns within the APC leadership as the party intensifies efforts to unite its members ahead of the election.
The meeting is believed to be part of efforts by the Presidency and the APC leadership to address internal grievances, strengthen party unity and prevent divisions from affecting the party’s electoral chances in the August 15 poll.
The August 15 governorship election is expected to be closely contested, with the APC seeking to consolidate its position in the state amid heightened political activities.
