Tinubu Approves Cabinet Reshuffle, Removes Edun, Dangiwa from FEC
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council (FEC),
involving the removal of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, from the cabinet.
According to a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, the affected ministers are to exit the cabinet, while replacements have been named.
Wale Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has been directed to hand over to Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, who has now been appointed as the new Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the ministry.
In the same development, Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named Ministerial Nominee and Minister-Designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
The memo also directed Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa to hand over to the Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
It stated that all handing over and taking over processes must be completed on or before the close of business on Thursday, 23rd April 2026.
Explaining the decision, Akume said the reshuffle was aimed at strengthening cohesion, improving synergy in governance, and enhancing delivery of the administration’s economic agenda under the Renewed Hope framework.
He added that President Tinubu exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in effecting the changes.
The President expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavours, while reaffirming that the process of government reinvigoration would remain continuous.
