Kaka Shehu Lawan has distributed ₦135,650,000 to executives of the All Progressives Congress across Borno Central Senatorial District as part of preparations for the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The cash disbursement was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the senator’s legislative assistant, Usman Alkali, through a Facebook post.
The statement, originally written in Hausa and later translated, said the intervention was aimed at supporting APC executives across the constituency ahead of the Sallah festivities.
According to Alkali, the funds were distributed on Thursday to party officials within the senatorial district to assist them in celebrating Eid-el-Kabir.
“Senator representing Borno Central, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan (SAN), on Thursday distributed cash to APC executives in his Borno Central constituency, totalling ₦135,650,000 to help them celebrate the upcoming Eid-Kabir festival,” the statement read.
Alkali stated further that the donation marked the third time the senator had extended such financial support to party executives since becoming a member of the National Assembly.
“This is the third time the Senator has given such a donation since becoming a member of the National Assembly,” he added.
He explained that the gesture was also intended to appreciate party executives for their loyalty, commitment, and contributions toward strengthening democratic values and sustaining the party’s structure within the constituency.
The development comes months after Lawan withdrew from the Borno State governorship race and endorsed Mustapha Gubio, who is believed to enjoy the backing of Babagana Zulum.
According to Alkali, the senator’s decision to step down from the governorship contest followed a stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja, where party leaders reportedly agreed that he should support Gubio while retaining his Senate seat.
