Primate Elijah Ayodele, leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has warned Senate President Godswill Akpabio of an alleged plot to impeach him, citing his inability to manage his public statements—remarks which, according to Ayodele, could lead to internal crisis and disrespect within the Senate.
Ayodele claimed that Akpabio’s unguarded comments are fostering division and may trigger a rowdy session that could ultimately lead to his removal. He alleged that a gang-up is brewing against the Senate President over what he described as “unmanaged statements.
The cleric further warned that Akpabio’s approach could lead to segregation in the Senate, attributing this to what he perceives as incompetence. He also advised Akpabio to pay attention to his health, suggesting that medical issues could affect his chances of returning for a second term.
However, Akpabio has strongly denied any impeachment plot. His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, described the claims as “wholly made-up stories” meant to mislead the public, insisting that the Senate remains stable and united under Akpabio’s leadership.
