The Ogun State Police Command says it has neutralised two suspected kidnappers and recovered an AK-47 rifle, two mobile phones, a suspected ransom bag, and other exhibits following the abduction of the Prince of Okun Owa, Prince Idris.
The prince was kidnapped at his residence in Okun Owa on June 30, 2026. According to the police, sustained intelligence-led operations by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit and other tactical teams led to his safe rescue on July 3.
Police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said operatives later tracked the suspects to the Agoro/Imodi axis, where the kidnappers opened fire on security personnel. The officers responded, killing two of the suspects, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
Recovered from the scene were an AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine, two mobile phones, a suspected ransom bag, and other incriminating items.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved in the operation and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal gangs across Ogun State. He also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support security efforts.
