At least 150 suspected bandits are feared to have drowned after a boat conveying them capsized in the Sabon Gida area of Sokoto State.
The incident was disclosed by counter-insurgency and Lake Chad region security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post shared on X.
According to the report, the حادث occurred on Saturday evening when a vessel carrying a large number of armed men overturned while crossing a water body in the area. The occupants were reportedly traveling in large numbers when the boat suddenly capsized, throwing everyone onboard into the water.
Preliminary information suggests that many of the passengers could not swim, leading to heavy casualties. Early reports indicate that none of the occupants survived.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation from security agencies regarding the incident.
