A controversy has erupted in Osun State following a statement attributed to Senator Francis Ade Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, in which he allegedly called on APC supporters to attack members of the Accord Party ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
In a purported statement circulating ahead of the election, Fadahunsi was quoted as saying: “From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them.”
He was also allegedly quoted as saying that Accord members should not be allowed to vote on election day, even if they present valid voter cards.

The alleged comments have sparked concerns over the safety of voters and the need for security agencies to prevent political violence before, during and after the election.
However, The Daily Torch Media could not independently verify the authenticity of the recording or establish the full context in which the alleged statement was made as of publication.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and other relevant security authorities are expected to investigate the allegation and take appropriate action if the statement is confirmed.
Fadahunsi has previously been identified in reports as a political figure from Osun East
