The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old security guard, identified as Friday Ayuba, for allegedly stealing motor spare parts belonging to his employer in Ita-Asu Village, via Owode-Egba.
The suspect was apprehended by operatives of the Owode-Egba Division following a report lodged by the manager of the affected company on May 30, 2026.
According to the police, the manager informed officers that Ayuba had earlier been intercepted by operatives of the Quick Response Squad (QRS) of the Ogun State Command at the Sagamu Interchange along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway while allegedly attempting to transport company property without authorization.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, who worked as a security guard for the company, was found in possession of several motor spare parts suspected to have been unlawfully removed from the firm’s premises.
Items recovered from him included four air controls, two air boosters, two engine seats, and two fuel pumps, all of which were identified as company property.
Police investigators said the suspect reportedly confessed to the theft during interrogation. Detectives subsequently visited the scene to carry out further investigations and documentation, while the recovered items were secured as exhibits.
The Ogun State Police Command disclosed that the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
Commending the vigilance of the company management and the swift response of the Quick Response Squad and officers of the Owode-Egba Division, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, praised the coordinated efforts that led to the recovery of the stolen items and the arrest of the suspect.
The Commissioner reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding businesses, critical assets and residents across the state through intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention strategies.
He also urged employers and members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Ogun State Police Command’s emergency lines.
