The Ogun State Police Command has recorded multiple breakthroughs in a series of intelligence-led operations carried out across different divisions of the state, leading to the arrest of five suspects, including a father and son, as well as the recovery of firearms and a stolen Tecno Android phone.
According to the Command, the operations resulted in the recovery of one locally fabricated pistol, two dane guns, one live cartridge, and a Tecno Android phone valued at ₦180,000.
In one of the operations, operatives attached to the Afon Division arrested Fatai Adegbola and his 23-year-old son, Waliu Adegbola, following a report of theft received on May 22, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m.
Police investigations revealed that Waliu allegedly stole a Tecno Android phone from a residential apartment on May 8, 2026. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives tracked and recovered the stolen phone.
Further investigation led detectives to conduct a search at the suspects’ residence after obtaining a valid search warrant. During the search, officers reportedly recovered a locally made pistol and a dane gun concealed within the premises.
The suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations continue to determine the extent of their involvement and identify possible accomplices.
In a separate operation, operatives of the Ilisan Remo Division recovered a locally fabricated pistol with one live cartridge during a routine patrol at the Ilisan Remo Roundabout on May 27, 2026, at about 7:30 a.m.
Police said the firearm was discovered abandoned and immediately secured by the patrol team. The exhibit has since been deposited in the division’s armoury, while efforts are ongoing to trace its source and ownership.
Similarly, officers attached to the Ode Remo Division arrested 25-year-old Inioluwa Adesanya over the alleged theft of a dane gun belonging to a resident of Ode Remo.
Preliminary investigation showed that the suspect gained access to the complainant’s residence while posing as a carpenter’s assistant engaged for renovation work before allegedly stealing the firearm.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and admitted being a member of the Aye confraternity. He also disclosed that the weapon had been modified for concealment purposes.
The recovered dane gun has been secured as evidence, while the suspect remains in custody pending transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
The police said all the cases have been transferred to the SCID for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism and swift response, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating violent crimes, cultism, armed robbery, and illegal possession of firearms across the state.
The Command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the nearest police station or the Command’s emergency lines.
