The Acting Customs Area Controller of Ogun I Area Command, DC O.O. Afeni, has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, calling for sustained unity, vigilance, and commitment to national security.
In a goodwill message issued on behalf of the Management of Ogun I Area Command and the Joint Border Security Committee, Afeni congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan, describing it as a period marked by fasting, prayer, self-discipline, and spiritual renewal.
He noted that Eid-el-Fitr serves as a reminder of the enduring values of sacrifice, compassion, tolerance, and generosity, which are central to Islamic teachings.
“As we celebrate, I urge all to sustain the virtues of peace, unity, and brotherly love,” he said, emphasizing that these principles are essential for national cohesion and development.
The Customs boss also stressed the importance of continued vigilance, particularly in safeguarding Nigeria’s borders and host communities. He highlighted the need for collective efforts in preventing the illegal influx of arms and ammunition, noting that such measures are critical to maintaining a secure environment.
Afeni further called for strengthened collaboration among stakeholders, encouraging a culture of excellence, mutual respect, and professional growth within the service.
He expressed hope that the Eid celebration would bring joy, good health, and renewed strength to all, while urging citizens to continue contributing meaningfully to national development.
“May this Eid bring you and your families abundant joy and renewed strength to serve our great nation,” he added.The statement concluded with the traditional greeting, “Barka da Sallah.”
