Flight Lieutenant Kafayat Sanni, Nigeria’s first female fighter pilot, has added another milestone to her distinguished military career by emerging as one of the top graduates at the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) in Accra.
Sanni won two prestigious awards at the institution’s graduation ceremony: Best Allied Student, presented to the top-performing international officer, and Best Assistant Commandant Paper, recognising excellence in research and strategic studies.
The achievement further cements her reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading military aviators and a trailblazer for women in the armed forces.
In 2019, Sanni made history as the first woman to qualify as a fighter pilot in the Nigerian Air Force, breaking barriers in a field traditionally dominated by men.
Since then, she has continued to distinguish herself through her professionalism, operational expertise, and commitment to excellence.
Beyond her flying duties, she has also served as an instructor pilot, helping to train and mentor the next generation of military aviators.
Her latest accomplishment has been widely celebrated as a source of pride for Nigeria and an inspiration to young women across Africa aspiring to careers in aviation and the military.
