NGX Regulation Limited (NGX RegCo), the independent regulatory arm of the Nigerian Exchange Group, has issued an advisory to the investing public following notable price movements in the shares of some listed companies in recent trading sessions.
The advisory, released as part of the regulator’s routine market surveillance activities, is aimed at encouraging investors to make informed and disciplined decisions amid heightened market activity. NGX RegCo stated that it continues to closely monitor trading patterns in line with its mandate to ensure a fair, orderly, and transparent market environment.
The regulator urged investors to base their investment decisions strictly on publicly available information, including careful evaluation of company fundamentals, financial performance, and overall risk profile. It also cautioned against speculative trading driven by rumours or unverified information, advising market participants to seek guidance from licensed stockbrokers and investment advisers where necessary.
Commenting on the development, Chief Executive Officer of NGX RegCo, Olufemi Shobanjo, described the advisory as a routine communication designed to reinforce responsible market behaviour.
“Our primary responsibility is to maintain a level playing field where market participants can trade with confidence, backed by timely and accurate information. This advisory underscores that sound fundamentals, not speculation, remain the foundation for sustainable investment outcomes. We remain fully committed to preserving the integrity and stability of our market,” he said.
NGX RegCo further reassured stakeholders that the Nigerian capital market remains stable, well-regulated, and resilient. According to the regulator, the Exchange will continue to promote transparency and robust oversight to ensure investors participate in a secure and confidence-driven trading environment.
