An unusual turn of events has unfolded in Katsina State, where villagers reportedly outsmarted bandits by abducting their family members to negotiate the release of kidnapped villagers.
According to a viral post on X (formerly Twitter) by user @GallantDaletian, relatives of the abducted individuals decided to take matters into their own hands. In a bold and unconventional move, they allegedly kidnapped family members of the bandits and proposed a direct swap.
The strategy reportedly succeeded, as the bandits released the abducted villagers and, in a surprising twist, even offered monetary compensation.
The incident has generated widespread attention online, with many describing it as a rare instance of local communities turning the tables on their assailants. While official confirmation is yet to be made, the story has sparked conversations around rising insecurity and the lengths to which citizens are now going to protect themselves.
