The Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) has joined Nigeria and the global community to commemorate International Workers’ Day 2026, calling for dignity, collaboration, and shared prosperity for workers.
In a statement marking the occasion, NCSP celebrated the hard work, resilience, and expertise of individuals whose contributions continue to drive economic transformation, innovation, and stronger bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and China.
The organisation noted that this year’s commemoration goes beyond celebrating labour, stressing that sustainable growth and long-term development can only be achieved through deliberate investment in people. It emphasised that empowering workers with access to opportunities, skills development, inclusion, and equitable systems is critical to unlocking human potential and ensuring shared prosperity.
The Director-General of NCSP, Joseph Tegbe, underscored the central role of people in shaping the future of both nations. He noted that every milestone in Nigeria–China relations is driven by individuals whose dedication and collaboration transform vision into measurable impact.
Tegbe further stressed that discussions around workers’ dignity must translate into tangible outcomes, including improved access to innovation, capacity building, and systems that enable meaningful contributions across sectors.
Through its strategic engagements, NCSP said it continues to connect Nigerian talent with Chinese expertise to accelerate industrial growth and economic development. The organisation disclosed that it has secured investment commitments across key sectors, including agriculture, automotive manufacturing, mining, steel production, and energy.
These efforts, according to NCSP, reinforce its mission to foster transformative partnerships that deliver long-term value for Nigeria.
As the global world of work continues to evolve, the organisation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting partnerships that deepen bilateral cooperation while improving livelihoods, empowering communities, and supporting inclusive, people-centred growth.
