The Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme (NOGaPS) located at Emeyal-1 in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State is expected to become operational by the fourth quarter of 2026, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has said.
The Board reaffirmed the timeline during an inspection visit to the facility on Friday, noting that key infrastructure projects at the park are nearing completion.
According to the General Manager, Corporate Communications, Dr. Obinna Ezeobi, a 2.5-megawatt Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) power plant is being installed as part of critical steps toward ensuring stable and sustainable electricity supply for industrial activities within the park.
He explained that the power project will support manufacturing operations and other services once the facility becomes fully operational.
A technical assessment of the site showed significant progress across major infrastructure components designed to position the park as a major industrial hub for Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
The Manager, Strategy and Transformation Projects at the NCDMB, Mr. Olubisi Okunola, disclosed that several facilities have already been completed and are ready for use.
These include manufacturing shop floors, a water treatment plant, accommodation facilities, classrooms, an amphitheater, and residential apartments for trainers, facilitators, and visiting guests.
He added that in addition to the CNG power installation, the Board has completed key power infrastructure such as a switchgear building, transformers, and heavy-duty generators to support operations.
To expand industrial capacity, a contract has also been awarded for the sand-filling of ponds within the park. Once completed, six additional manufacturing sheds will be constructed on the reclaimed land to accommodate investors and service providers.
Ongoing works at the site include landscaping and general maintenance aimed at ensuring the facility is fully prepared for operations ahead of its scheduled launch.
When completed, the Oil and Gas Park Scheme is expected to serve as a strategic platform for boosting indigenous manufacturing, reducing dependence on imported oil and gas equipment, creating more than 2,000 jobs, and strengthening local participation across the sector’s value chain.
The NCDMB reiterated its commitment to delivering the project in line with its mandate to develop in-country capacity and advance Nigerian content in the oil and gas industry.
