MTN Nigeria has extended the application deadline for the fifth edition of its Media Innovation Programme (MIP) to Saturday, April 25, 2026.
The extension offers additional opportunity for qualified media professionals and digital content creators across Nigeria to apply for the fully funded programme, which is designed to advance storytelling and media innovation across Africa.
For the 2026 cohort, the programme will admit 25 fellows, an increase from 20 in previous editions. According to MTN Nigeria, the expansion aligns with its 25-year anniversary and reflects its continued investment in strengthening Nigeria’s media ecosystem.
Launched in 2022 in partnership with the Pan-Atlantic University, through its School of Media and Communication, the six-month certificate programme has grown into a leading platform for media capacity development on the continent.
The initiative combines academic sessions with practical industry engagements, including an international study visit. The global component, held in South Africa, features sessions at the University of Johannesburg, alongside interactions with professionals in media, business, and public policy.
MTN Nigeria said the programme reflects its broader commitment to supporting a vibrant, independent, and forward-looking media industry, particularly as the digital economy continues to evolve.
Since its inception, the programme has produced a growing network of alumni who have gone on to take up leadership roles, launch media platforms, and contribute to public discourse across the country.
Applications remain open via the School of Media and Communication website, with candidates expected to demonstrate strong interest in innovation, impactful storytelling, and professional development. Shortlisted applicants will undergo a rigorous selection process, with successful candidates expected to commence the programme in May 2026.
MTN Nigeria, part of the MTN Group, currently connects over 87 million subscribers nationwide and continues to play a leading role in advancing connectivity and innovation across the country.
