The Confederation of African Football has officially rescheduled the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, moving the tournament from its earlier March date to a new window between July 25 and August 16, 2026.
In a statement on Thursday, CAF said the competition, initially scheduled for March 17 to April 3, was shifted after consultations with FIFA and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth organisation of the tournament.
CAF noted that preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026 were ongoing and expressed confidence that the competition would be successful.
For defending champions Nigeria women’s national football team, the new schedule provides additional time to prepare for their title defence.
The tournament will also serve as Africa’s qualification pathway to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with the four semi-finalists earning automatic tickets to the global competition, while another African team will compete in an intercontinental play-off.
