A Ghana Army Z-9 helicopter tragically crashed at Adansi Akrofum in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. The incident claimed the lives of eight individuals — three crew members and five passengers — including the Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.
An eyewitness at the crash site shared harrowing details with the media, stating that six bodies were initially discovered upon arrival. He also noted that personnel from the Ghanaian military, the Local Assembly Member for Sikaman, and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, were present at the scene to assess the situation.
