JMG Limited has unveiled the potential cost-saving benefits of hybrid solar power systems, with two projects commissioned in the third quarter of 2026 projected to deliver a combined annual diesel cost reduction of more than ₦152 million.
The projects, installed for La Chaumiere Group and at JMG’s Victoria Island branch in Lagos, are designed to reduce dependence on diesel-powered generators, improve electricity reliability and lower carbon emissions.
The installations highlight the growing role of renewable energy in helping Nigerian businesses manage rising energy costs and maintain efficient operations amid persistent power supply challenges.
La Chaumiere Project Targets ₦102m Annual Savings
At La Chaumiere Group, a premium culinary and hospitality company, JMG installed a 133.12-kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar photovoltaic system supported by 160kW of hybrid inverter capacity and 163.84kWh of high-voltage lithium battery storage.
According to the company, the system is expected to generate approximately 210.86 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean electricity annually, meeting a substantial portion of the group’s energy requirements.
The installation is projected to reduce diesel consumption by approximately 57,000 litres annually, translating into estimated fuel savings of more than ₦102 million.
The project is also expected to prevent over 76 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually, contributing to the company’s environmental sustainability objectives.
JMG Victoria Island Branch to Cut Diesel Consumption
JMG is also applying the technology within its own operations.
At its Victoria Island branch in Lagos, the company commissioned a 66kWp hybrid solar installation featuring 80kW of hybrid inverter capacity and 81.92kWh of lithium battery storage.
The system is projected to generate approximately 94.8MWh of clean electricity annually, meeting about 80 per cent of the branch’s energy requirements.
JMG estimates that the installation will reduce diesel consumption by around 28,000 litres annually, generating approximately ₦50 million in fuel savings.
The system is also expected to prevent more than 37 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
Combined, the two installations are projected to save approximately 85,000 litres of diesel and deliver more than ₦152 million in annual fuel savings, based on the company’s estimates.
Technology Designed Around Business Needs
JMG said both installations were developed using detailed energy-load analysis and PVsyst simulation to determine the appropriate system capacity for each location.
The systems feature LONGi solar modules, Deye hybrid inverters and Deye high-voltage lithium battery storage.
The combination enables solar electricity generation, energy storage and intelligent power management to support business operations while reducing dependence on diesel generators.
The company said the projects demonstrate how renewable energy can deliver measurable commercial benefits when installations are designed around the actual energy requirements of individual businesses.
JMG Highlights Financial Benefits of Solar Energy
Commenting on the projects, Hussein Abbas, Head of Solar Division at JMG Limited, said the installations reflect the company’s commitment to delivering renewable energy solutions that combine operational reliability with financial benefits.
“Businesses need power they can depend on, but they also need solutions that make financial sense. These projects demonstrate that reliability, cost savings and sustainability do not have to be competing priorities,” Abbas said.
He explained that properly designed hybrid solar systems could help businesses reduce diesel dependence, lower energy expenditure and establish more sustainable power infrastructure.
Abbas added that JMG was not only providing the technology to customers but was also deploying it within its own operations.
Solar Installation to Serve as Demonstration Facility
According to JMG, the Victoria Island installation will also serve as a demonstration facility where customers, consultants and project developers can observe the hybrid solar technology operating in a real business environment.
The facility is expected to help prospective customers understand how similar systems could be adapted to their own energy needs.
For Nigerian businesses facing high energy costs and unreliable electricity supply, investments in hybrid solar technology could provide an alternative approach to managing operating expenses while improving power reliability.
JMG said it would continue to provide turnkey solar and hybrid power solutions tailored to the specific energy requirements of businesses.
