The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has handed over forfeited landed properties valued at ₦4.9 billion to the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) to support the Federal Government’s affordable housing initiative.
The properties, located in the Kada District of Abuja, were officially transferred during a ceremony held in Abuja on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of ICPC, Dr. Musa Aliyu, said the handover demonstrates the Commission’s commitment to ensuring that assets recovered through anti-corruption efforts are put to productive use for the benefit of Nigerians.
He noted that the transfer aligns with the Federal Government’s policy of converting recovered assets into public infrastructure and social development projects, particularly in the housing sector.
Receiving the properties on behalf of the bank, the Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Shehu Usman, expressed appreciation to the ICPC for the gesture. He assured that the bank would utilize the assets to expand access to affordable housing and support the government’s housing delivery programme.
The event was attended by senior officials of both the ICPC and FMBN, who described the initiative as a significant step towards promoting transparency, accountability and sustainable national development.
