Former Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Reps, Agunwa Anakwe, Passes Away.
He passed away on Saturday, July 5, after reportedly battling an undisclosed illness.
Anakwe, who hailed from Anambra State, led the Third House of Representatives in 1992 under the short-lived interim government of the late Chief Ernest Shonekan.
At just 36 years old, Anakwe’s tenure was cut short following the military coup led by General Sani Abacha, which overthrew Shonekan’s administration on November 17, 1993.
