Leading financial institution, Fidelity Bank Plc, has reinforced its commitment to social impact and community development with a comprehensive intervention at Heritage Homes Orphanage in Anthony Village, Lagos, aimed at improving the living and learning conditions of children at the facility.
The intervention was carried out under the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP), the bank’s flagship employee-driven corporate social responsibility initiative that enables staff to identify community needs, raise funds for projects, and receive matching support from the bank to implement them.
The outreach was championed by the bank’s Audacious Class of newly inducted employees and addressed several pressing needs at the orphanage, including the replacement of damaged roofing and POP ceilings, fumigation of the premises, donation of essential food items, and payment of school fees for some of the children.
Speaking during the outreach, the Divisional Head of Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank Plc, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, said the initiative demonstrates the bank’s commitment to empowering employees to make meaningful contributions to their communities.
According to him, the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme provides employees with the opportunity to devote their time, resources, and skills to improving lives in communities where the bank operates.
He explained that the Audacious Class identified Heritage Homes Orphanage, assessed its most urgent needs, and implemented three major interventions—infrastructure renovation, food donation, and payment of school fees.
Nwagboh noted that the project reflects the sustainable impact the programme was designed to achieve.
“We are delighted to be part of their journey. Today, these children have a secure roof over their heads, access to essential food supplies, and the assurance that their education will continue. This is the kind of sustainable impact the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme was designed to achieve,” he said.
Responding on behalf of the orphanage, the Assistant General Manager of Heritage Homes Orphanage, Irene Light, described the intervention as timely and life-changing.
She thanked Fidelity Bank for renovating the facility’s roof, replacing the damaged POP ceiling, fumigating the home, donating food items, and paying the school fees of some of the children.
“Their generosity has brought relief, comfort, and renewed hope to everyone in this home,” she said.
Light added that the intervention would restore dignity to the orphanage, provide a safer and more conducive environment for the children, and significantly improve their quality of life. She also prayed for the continued success of Fidelity Bank, commending the institution for its unwavering commitment to positively impacting lives.
