Residents of Kamba in Dandi Local Government Area, Kebbi State, have celebrated the official opening of a new Fidelity Bank Plc branch, hailing it as a transformative step in improving access to banking services for farmers, traders, and households in the community.
The branch commissioning attracted key local leaders, including the District Head of Kyangakwai, Alhaji Suleiman Musa; former Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Mr. Isma’ila Abdulmumuni Kamba; Sarkin Shikon Kamba, Mamuda Zarummai; Council Secretary of Dandi Local Government, Alhaji Abdulkadir Muhammad; and the Regional Bank Head, North-West Zone 2, Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr. Muhammad Lawal-Ahijo.
Speaking on behalf of the Chairman of Dandi Local Government Council, Dr. Mansur Isah-Kamba, the Council Secretary, Alhaji Abdulkadir Muhammad, welcomed the bank’s presence, noting that residents previously traveled long distances to Birnin Kebbi for routine banking services.
“With the opening of this branch in our locality, the stress, cost, and time associated with banking outside the community will be significantly reduced,” he said, praising Fidelity Bank for supporting farmers and small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs).
Sarkin Shikon Kamba, Alhaji Mahmoud Zarumai-Fana, emphasized the branch’s potential to boost agricultural productivity, noting, “Our people are predominantly farmers. Access to financial services will help them improve livelihoods. Proximity to banking services will make it easier to save, access loans, and participate in agricultural intervention programmes.”
At the inauguration, Mr. Muhammad Lawal-Ahijo, Regional Bank Head, North-West Zone 2, reiterated Fidelity Bank’s commitment to financial inclusion and rural economic growth. “Kamba is a thriving agricultural community, and this branch is a strategic investment in the future of its farmers, traders, and households. While the infrastructure is ours, this branch belongs to the community. We encourage residents to take full advantage of the services available,” he said.
Dr. Abubakar Suleiman-Fana, representing Dandi Constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly, described the opening as a milestone for rural financial inclusion. “Farmers, traders, and youths must seize this opportunity to grow their businesses and improve their economic well-being,” he said.
Residents, including petty trader Mrs. Hassana Abubakar, expressed excitement over the convenience the branch offers. “Now I can do my banking here without losing a whole day’s business. This will help my shop grow,” she said.
