Enugu Air has confirmed that one of its aircraft was involved in a runway incursion after landing at Benin Airport on Thursday, assuring the public that all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated without injuries.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the airline said the aircraft had been secured while the relevant aviation authorities were notified in line with established operational procedures.
According to the airline, an assessment of the aircraft and a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently underway.
“We confirm that all passengers and crew have safely disembarked, and there were no injuries or casualties. The aircraft has been secured, and the relevant aviation authorities have been notified in line with established procedures,” the statement said.
Enugu Air noted that the incident could result in temporary adjustments to some of its flight schedules. It added that passengers affected by any disruptions would be contacted directly and provided with the necessary support.
The airline appealed for patience and understanding from customers as it works to minimise the impact of the incident on its operations.
Reaffirming its commitment to safety, Enugu Air stressed that the welfare of its passengers and crew, as well as the integrity of its operations, remains its highest priority.
“The safety of our passengers, crew, and operations remains our highest priority. We appreciate your understanding and will continue to provide updates through our official communication channels,” the airline stated.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the runway incursion had not been disclosed. Aviation authorities are expected to investigate the incident and determine the circumstances that led to the occurrence.
