Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested one Ifeanyi Mba over an alleged N10 million land fraud in Enugu State.
The suspect was arrested following a petition by a victim who alleged that he paid Mba the sum of N10 million for a parcel of land located at Plot 677, Owo/Premier Layout, Ogui Nike Community in Enugu State. However, the petitioner later discovered that unknown individuals had begun developing the land.
According to the petitioner, when he contacted the suspect to question the development on the land, he was informed that the property was government-owned. The petitioner added that all attempts to recover his money from the suspect proved unsuccessful, as the suspect subsequently became unreachable.
Preliminary investigations by the EFCC revealed that no layout exists bearing Plot 677 Owo/Premier within the government-acquired areas, and that Owo Layout and Premier Layout are two separate layouts.
The anti-graft agency said the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
