The Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has attributed its impressive ₦1.6 trillion revenue performance in the 2025 fiscal year to sustained operational reforms, improved transparency, and strong teamwork among its officers.
The Command recorded a total revenue collection of ₦1,609,874,328,972.55, surpassing its annual target of ₦1,524,669,999,478.52 by ₦85,204,329,494.03. The feat represents one of the most outstanding revenue milestones in the history of the Command.
The Comptroller of the Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, disclosed this during an award ceremony held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Command’s headquarters in Lagos, where officers were honoured for their contributions to the record-breaking performance.
Speaking at the event, Comptroller Onyeka described the achievement as the product of collective effort rather than individual brilliance, stressing that teamwork, shared responsibility, and improved operational systems were central to the Command’s success.
“A tree can never make a forest. I could not have done it alone. Much has been given to us, and much is expected. Our officers deserve appreciation for their tireless efforts,” he said.
He explained that the award ceremony reflects a growing institutional culture within the Nigeria Customs Service that promotes diligence, professionalism, and accountability, noting that recognising hard work remains a key motivation for sustained excellence.
The Area Controller highlighted several operational reforms introduced by the Command, including the B’Odogwu clearance system and the Time Release Study (TRS), both aimed at reducing cargo delays, enhancing trade facilitation, and improving internal efficiency at the port.
According to him, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, recently launched the official Time Release Study assessment report at the ICD 2026 Conference, with the Tincan Island Port Command emerging as one of the standout performers.
Comptroller Onyeka added that the revenue success has further strengthened the Command’s resolve to strike a balance between trade facilitation and strict regulatory compliance, despite prevailing economic and operational challenges.
He expressed appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs, stakeholders, trade partners, and officers of the Command for their continued support and confidence.
Responding on behalf of the award recipients, the Deputy Comptroller (Administration), Essien Esiet, described the recognition as a source of pride and a renewed call to higher responsibility, assuring that officers would remain committed to upholding the standards and core values of the Service.
