The Seme–Krake Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has welcomed a new Area Controller, Comptroller A.L. Kaila, who formally assumed leadership from Comptroller Wale Adenuga during a handover ceremony held at the ECOWAS Joint Border Post on Wednesday.
The outgoing Comptroller, Adenuga, officially transferred authority to his successor, marking the end of his tenure at the helm of the command.
Speaking at the ceremony, Adenuga highlighted the command’s significant revenue growth under his leadership, noting an increase from ₦5.17 million to ₦1.5 billion. He described the achievement as a reflection of the dedication and hard work of officers and men of the command.
He urged personnel to extend the same level of cooperation and support to the new Area Controller to sustain and surpass the gains already recorded. Adenuga also expressed appreciation to officers, sister agencies, and stakeholders operating within the command for their collaboration throughout his tenure.
In his remarks, the incoming Area Controller, Comptroller Kaila, described the Seme Command as familiar terrain, having previously served in various capacities within the command.
He commended his predecessor for what he termed a legacy of sterling leadership, noting that the tenure was marked by strategic gains in revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations, and stakeholder engagement.
Kaila called on officers and men of the command to remain disciplined and professional, emphasizing that unity and ethical conduct would be critical to achieving success.
Reaffirming the core mandates of the Nigeria Customs Service—revenue generation, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling, and national security—he pledged to prioritize these areas while soliciting the support and cooperation of all stakeholders.
He expressed confidence that collective efforts would drive the command to greater heights despite the challenges ahead.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of key security and government agencies, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Port Health Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigerian Air Force, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), as well as community leaders in Seme.
