The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP), in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, has launched the C.L.I.C.K.D.
Programme (Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices) to expand access to affordable consumer credit for laptops and other digital devices.
The programme was unveiled on Monday at the Afreximbank African Trade Centre (AATC) in Abuja as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to deepen digital inclusion, boost local manufacturing and empower Nigerians with the tools needed to participate in the digital economy.
C.L.I.C.K.D. is a device financing initiative introduced in collaboration with the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme. It enables eligible Nigerians to acquire laptops, internet-enabled devices and other digital tools through structured and affordable consumer credit, eliminating the high upfront cost that has prevented many from accessing digital opportunities.
The initiative will begin with the financing of locally assembled laptops and is expected to expand to other categories of digital devices and connectivity tools, while prioritising local manufacturing.
The first phase targets fellows undergoing training on the Learn2Earn platform, many of whom require digital devices to complete their training and transition into employment or entrepreneurship.
Implemented in partnership with Fidelity Bank as the credit administration partner, and NASENI and Imose Technologies as device manufacturers, the programme will provide 1,000 locally assembled laptops to eligible beneficiaries across Nigeria.
At the launch ceremony, 77 beneficiaries in Abuja received their laptops, marking the commencement of the nationwide rollout.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, who chaired the programme launch, said the initiative would complement the government’s investment in digital skills development.
“Nigeria’s digital economy can only thrive when our people have both the skills and the tools to succeed. Through C.L.I.C.K.D., we are helping qualifying Nigerians participate more fully in the opportunities created by the 3MTT initiative while strengthening local manufacturing through the use of locally assembled devices,” Tijani said.
Also speaking, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CREDICORP, Engr. Uzoma Nwagba, described the programme as a major step towards making digital tools accessible through responsible consumer credit.
According to him, “C.L.I.C.K.D. transforms digital devices from a barrier into an opportunity. By embedding affordable consumer credit into a national talent programme like 3MTT, starting with locally assembled laptops, we are giving qualifying Nigerians a responsible pathway to the tools they need to learn, work and earn, while advancing the Federal Government’s vision for industrial development and job creation.”
CREDICORP said C.L.I.C.K.D. is its flagship device financing initiative and will eventually be open to working Nigerians nationwide, with the 3MTT Programme serving as the launch partner for the first phase.
The corporation also announced plans to expand the programme by partnering with additional financial institutions, device manufacturers and technology vendors, while working closely with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), training institutions and other strategic partners to scale access to affordable digital devices across the country.
Interested Nigerians can register for the programme through CREDICORP’s online portal.
