The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has embarked on a strategic familiarisation tour of the Sagamu and Owode Egba Area Commands as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots security, deepen community policing, and enhance collaboration with key stakeholders across the state.
The tour, which featured engagements with traditional rulers, local government officials, corporate organisations, community leaders, and police personnel, underscored the Ogun State Police Command’s commitment to proactive and inclusive policing.
Accompanied by members of the Command Management Team and the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Comrade Lawal Abdullahi, the Commissioner began the tour with a courtesy visit to the Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi (CFR), Torungbuwa II.
During the visit, CP Ojajuni expressed appreciation to the monarch for his continued support for policing efforts and solicited sustained collaboration to strengthen security in the area. In response, the Akarigbo commended the professionalism of officers and men of the Command and praised the cordial relationship between the police and host communities.
The Commissioner later held an interactive session at the Sagamu Area Command with community stakeholders, members of the Ogun State Hunters Association, and police personnel. He commended stakeholders and local hunters for their contributions to intelligence gathering and operational support.
CP Ojajuni also praised officers for their professionalism and outstanding performance during the recent joint cross-border security operation between the Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands, code-named Operation Kosaye, urging them to remain disciplined, committed, and patriotic in the discharge of their duties.
As part of the visit, the Commissioner commissioned a newly renovated office at the Sagamu Divisional Headquarters.
The event was attended by retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, DIG Peter Babatunde Ogunyanwo, alongside representatives of Lafarge Sagamu, whom he commended for supporting police infrastructure through corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The tour continued to the Owode Egba Area Command, where the Commissioner paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ambassador Adesina Ogunshola Lanre. During the meeting, CP Ojajuni described the area as the state’s largest Area Command and a major industrial hub, stressing the need for sustained collaboration in protecting lives and property.
The council chairman commended the police for maintaining peace and security in the area. CP Ojajuni, in turn, appreciated the Ogun State Government for its support towards the successful implementation of Operation Kosaye, noting that the operation remains active in tackling cross-border crimes.
At the Owode Egba Area Command Headquarters, the Commissioner was received by officers, traditional rulers, community leaders, and heads of other security agencies. He applauded the strong synergy among security agencies in the area, describing it as a key factor in maintaining peace and reducing crime.
He reiterated that Operation Kosaye is aimed at denying criminal elements safe haven in Ogun State and called for continued cooperation from residents and stakeholders.
The tour concluded with a visit to the TGI Industrial Complex at the Sagamu Interchange, where CP Ojajuni met with the company’s management led by the General Manager of Operations, Mr. Miranda Grande.
The Commissioner highlighted the importance of job creation in crime prevention and commended the company for its corporate social responsibility initiatives. In response, Mr. Grande appreciated the Police Command for its sustained efforts in improving security around the Sagamu Interchange and across Ogun State.
