The Federal Government has announced a new policy granting lifetime salary benefits to senior officers retiring at the rank of Deputy Controller, Comptroller, or Commandant-General and above. This was disclosed by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday, August 28, during the 2025 Ministerial Retreat.
Lifetime Salary Benefits:
President Tinubu approved the policy as a significant boost to officer welfare, benefiting senior officers retiring from specified ranks.
Promotions:
Over 50,000 officers have been promoted within the last two years, clearing a long-standing backlog of promotions. Future promotions will be based on a new system anchored on capacity and performance.
Training and Development:
New training manuals have been developed, and the construction of a world-class Fire Academy is currently underway, designed to rival leading international institutions like the Arizona Fire Academy.
Private Sector Partnerships:
The Minister of Interior has charged the Federal Fire Service to deepen private sector partnerships to enhance service delivery, infrastructure development, and modernization of firefighting operations.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu for his unwavering support, affirming that all agencies under the Ministry of Interior are reaping the benefits of the Renewed Hope Agenda .
