A passenger aboard a MaxAir flight from Abuja to Katsina, Mr. Obinna Chukwueze, has expressed gratitude to God after surviving a frightening mid-air incident that forced the aircraft to make an emergency return to Abuja.
Chukwueze, who shared his experience shortly after the incident, said the aircraft developed problems less than 20 minutes after takeoff, causing panic among passengers.
According to him, a loud bang was heard during the flight, after which the aircraft suddenly dropped and struggled to maintain balance in the air.
“We boarded a Max Air flight from Abuja to Katsina, and about less than 20 minutes into the journey, there was a loud bang and the aircraft suddenly dropped and began struggling to maintain balance,” he recounted.
He said moments later, another loud sound was heard, heightening fears among passengers who believed the situation could end in tragedy.
“A few minutes later, there was another loud bang and I thought we were all gone. At that point, the entire cabin and passengers became tense and nervous,” he said.
Chukwueze added that the pilot calmly informed passengers that the aircraft would return to Abuja for safety reasons.
“The pilot, in a terse voice, then announced that, for safety reasons, we would be returning to Abuja. He carefully manoeuvred the aircraft, flying low, until we successfully made an emergency landing in Abuja,” he stated.
Despite the traumatic experience, the passenger expressed gratitude that all onboard survived the incident.
“I am deeply grateful to God for preserving our lives today. Although I’m still in shock, I thank God who spared our lives,” he added
