These headlines capture the essence of the story, highlighting Sowore’s release and his commitment to continuing his activism.
The Nigeria Police Force has released human rights activist and publisher, Omoyele Sowore. Sowore confirmed his release in a post on his X account, stating that the Force and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) unlawfully detained him.
Sowore expressed gratitude to supporters who stood by him during his detention, saying, “The Nigeria Police Force and its illegal IGP have capitulated to the demands of the revolutionary movement. I have been released from unjust, unwarranted, and unlawful detention. However, it is nothing to celebrate… You’ve all seen the power of unity #RevolutionNow.”
This development comes after calls for his release, including from Peter Obi, who urged the police to either release or arraign Sowore.
