Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos, came alive with music, dance and entertainment as the Bigi Soundcity OnTour ended on a high note, with Oladapo Taiwo Opeyemi emerging winner of the Bigi Music Competition.
The three-day campus activation, which began on September 15, brought together emerging musical talents, dancers and established artistes in an entertainment experience that culminated in the Bigi Music Competition final.
Opeyemi clinched the top prize after a keenly contested competition, winning ₦1 million and the opportunity to take his musical talent to a bigger platform.
Iheanacho Favour Emeka emerged first runner-up, while Anikene Victor Chidera finished as second runner-up.
The competition provided a platform for YABATECH students and emerging artistes to showcase their musical abilities, creativity and individual performance styles.
The Fearless Dance Challenge was also a major attraction, with students taking to the stage to display their dance skills and creativity, drawing enthusiastic reactions from the audience.
The entertainment continued with performances by Modola, Táríq, Syemca, Slimcase, Mr P, Kodee, Duuwa and Rukmani, who kept students engaged throughout the concert.
Speaking on the activation, Ekuma Eze, Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Rite Foods Limited, said the Bigi and Fearless brands remained committed to providing platforms for young Nigerians to express their creativity and connect with opportunities.
“Young people are not waiting for culture to happen; they are creating it every day. Through the Bigi and Fearless brands, we want to meet them where that creativity is most visible and give them platforms where they can express themselves, discover their capabilities and connect with opportunities beyond the immediate moment,” he said.
The YABATECH edition of Soundcity OnTour was designed to combine entertainment with opportunities for young people to showcase their talents and creativity.
For Opeyemi, Emeka and Chidera, the Bigi Music Competition provided an opportunity to turn their musical abilities into notable achievements, while the wider campus experience gave students a platform to connect through music, dance and entertainment.
The Soundcity OnTour campaign will continue to other campuses, with Bigi and Fearless promising more music, talent competitions, dance challenges and entertainment experiences for young Nigerians.
