The Aseyin of Iseyin Land, Oba Dr. Sefiu Olawale Adeyeri III, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Iseyin community to supporting the Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Area Command, in its fight against smuggling and other trans-border crimes.
The monarch made the commitment on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, when he led his entourage on a courtesy visit to the Command, where they were received by the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Wale Moses Adewole, and members of the Command’s management team.
Oba Adeyeri said the visit was intended to reciprocate the courtesy visit paid to the Iseyin community by the Acting Controller during his stakeholder engagements with traditional institutions across the Command.
He commended Adewole for the Command’s efforts in revenue generation and anti-smuggling operations, assuring the Customs authorities of the continued support and cooperation of the Iseyin community.
The monarch also pledged that the community would continue to sensitise residents on the dangers of smuggling and other forms of trans-border crime.
Oba Adeyeri further praised the Acting Controller for recognising the importance of traditional institutions in strengthening Customs operations and community relations.
He specifically acknowledged the Controller’s engagements with traditional rulers, including the Alaafin of Oyo, Soun of Ogbomoso, Iba of Kishi, Okere of Saki and Onigbeti of Igbeti.
Responding, Adewole expressed appreciation to the Aseyin and his entourage for the visit, describing it as significant to the Command’s efforts to build stronger relationships with traditional institutions and other stakeholders.
He noted that the Aseyin was the first traditional ruler to pay a courtesy visit to the Command since his assumption of office as Acting Customs Area Controller.
Adewole reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining cordial relations and collaboration with traditional rulers, community leaders and other critical stakeholders within the Command’s area of responsibility.
The visit, according to the Command, further highlighted the importance of effective community-Customs relations in promoting voluntary compliance, curbing smuggling, enhancing security and advancing the broader mandate of the Nigeria Customs Service.
