A tragic incident has shaken the Fegge area of Onitsha, Anambra State, following the alleged killing of a trader by his apprentice on Sunday.
The victim, identified simply as Iyke, was said to be a businessman at the popular Ogbo Ogwu Market. According to information circulating in a viral video shared by a Facebook user, OBC Afunwa, the suspect, 18-year-old Chiemerie from Ebonyi State, allegedly attacked and killed his employer with a pestle.
Sources within the market community described the incident as a violent confrontation that has left traders in shock. The motive behind the attack remains unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Law enforcement authorities are yet to issue an official statement confirming the full details of the incident or the status of the suspect.
The development has, however, sparked renewed conversations among members of the trading community about the need for thorough background checks and greater caution when engaging apprentices.
