The passing of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Ogun State, CC Oludare Ogunjobi, has left a painful void in the hearts of those who knew him, including colleagues and admirers who were touched by his personality, professionalism and elegance.
In a heartfelt tribute, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi described the late Ogunjobi as a remarkable personality whose towering presence, eloquence, composure and impeccable dressing left a lasting impression on him.
Babaseyi recalled his first encounter with the late sector commander during a visit by the Commissioner of Police to the FRSC Command in Ogun State. He also remembered a subsequent courtesy visit by public relations officers (PROs) across the state.
According to him, what stood out during their encounters was Ogunjobi’s commanding presence, eloquence and dignified manner.
Beyond his official responsibilities, however, Babaseyi said the late commander also became familiar to him through an unexpected connection: they shared the same tailor.
He explained that the tailor frequently spoke highly of Ogunjobi, expressing admiration for his personality and sense of style.
The repeated conversations made the late sector commander’s name familiar to Babaseyi, even outside their official interactions.
Consequently, when news of Ogunjobi’s death reached him, the tailor was the first person who came to mind.
Babaseyi said he could only imagine the depth of the tailor’s grief, noting that the loss was a painful reminder of the relationships people build and the lasting impressions they leave on others.
For him, the experience reinforced the belief that a person’s true legacy extends beyond official titles, uniforms and positions of authority to include the lives they touch and the memories they create.
“Sir, our encounters may have been few, but the impression you left was unforgettable,” he said.
Describing the late commander as an iroko tree whose towering presence would not easily be forgotten, Babaseyi expressed sadness over his passing while acknowledging the enduring value of his memory.
“An Iroko has fallen, but the memory of its towering presence will remain with us,” he said.
He also offered prayers for the repose of Ogunjobi’s soul, asking God to comfort his family, colleagues, friends and everyone mourning his death.
“God knows best, even when our hearts struggle to understand. May He comfort your family, colleagues and everyone whose heart aches at your departure,” Babaseyi added.
He concluded the tribute with a final farewell to the late sector commander, expressing hope that he would find eternal rest in the presence of the Almighty.
“Rest in power, CC Oludare Ogunjobi, Sir. May your soul find eternal rest in the bosom of the Almighty.
