Airtel Nigeria has announced the temporary suspension of its airtime and data credit services.
The affected services previously enabled eligible prepaid customers to borrow airtime or data and repay upon their next recharge. Despite the suspension, the company assured subscribers of uninterrupted access to regular airtime and data purchases through its existing channels.
Airtel Nigeria noted that the decision is not expected to have any material impact on its overall service delivery nationwide.
Commenting on the development, the company’s Director of Marketing, Ismail Adeshina, described the move as necessary to meet evolving operational requirements.
“This is a necessary and responsible step as we align our operations with evolving requirements. Airtel Nigeria remains committed to the highest standards of compliance, transparency, and consumer protection, while continuing to innovate responsibly within Nigeria’s digital ecosystem,” he said.
The company added that customers will be duly informed as soon as there are updates regarding the reinstatement of the service.
