Airtel Africa has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding connectivity and improving digital and financial inclusion across Africa as part of efforts to transform lives on the continent.
The telecommunications company said the initiative aligns with its corporate purpose of bridging the digital divide and increasing access to communication services across its operational footprint.
Meanwhile, Starlink Mobile disclosed that it operates the world’s largest satellite constellation, with more than 650 satellites launched into low-Earth orbit to provide data, voice, video and messaging services in areas with limited or no mobile network coverage.
According to the company, its satellite system connects directly with existing LTE-enabled mobile phones anywhere users can see the sky, effectively functioning like a cell tower in space.
Starlink explained that the technology uses advanced phased-array antennas and laser-linked satellite networks to provide seamless connectivity across the globe, enabling integration with telecom operators in a manner similar to standard roaming partnerships.
The company added that it currently connects millions of customers across six continents and partners with mobile network operators worldwide to extend coverage to underserved and remote communities.
Starlink also described itself as one of the world’s largest providers of 4G coverage through its satellite-powered mobile connectivity services.
