The Airtel Africa Foundation, in partnership with Airtel Nigeria, has opened applications for the DigiLeap Tech Drive, a key initiative aimed at expanding digital inclusion across the continent.
In a statement released in Lagos on April 21, 2026, the Foundation said the application portal will remain open until May 8, 2026.
The programme is targeted at 200 underserved young women in Ikorodu and is designed to bridge the gender gap in the digital economy by offering intensive, industry-standard technical and digital literacy training at no cost.
DigiLeap is being implemented through a collaboration involving the ISHK Tolaram Foundation and Co-Creation Hub, with execution led by the SAIL Innovation Lab.
According to the organisers, the initiative is structured to equip participants with practical skills, mentorship, and job placement opportunities, with the goal of preparing them for careers in the technology sector while addressing youth unemployment and the underrepresentation of women in tech.
Chairman of the Airtel Africa Foundation, Segun Ogunsanya, said the programme reflects the organisation’s commitment to advancing digital and gender inclusion across Africa.
“Our mission at the Airtel Africa Foundation is to accelerate digital inclusion across the continent,” he said.
“By bringing the DigiLeap Tech Drive to women in Ikorodu alongside our partners, we are equipping 200 young women with a competitive advantage in the modern economy. This is not just a training programme, but a pathway to internships and sustainable careers.”
Also speaking, Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Dinesh Balsingh, emphasised the importance of empowering women with digital skills.
“At Airtel Nigeria, we believe that equipping women with digital skills is critical to national economic growth.
The DigiLeap initiative provides a pathway for young women in underserved communities to transition into the tech workforce and contribute meaningfully to economic development,” he said.
The programme focuses on building industry-relevant competencies that enhance both employability and entrepreneurship. Applications are open to women aged 18 to 35 residing in Ikorodu.
