The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has pledged its support for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), with Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, stressing the importance of strategic communication in driving institutional reforms.
Adeniyi made the commitment on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, when a delegation led by the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, Professor Justin Green, and President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ike Neliaku, visited him at Customs House, Maitama, Abuja.
The forum is scheduled to hold in Abuja from November 15 to 21, 2026, under the theme, “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World.”
Customs highlights reform agenda
During the meeting, Adeniyi highlighted some of the major reforms being implemented by the NCS, including B’Odogwu, the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme and Advance Ruling.
According to him, the initiatives are aimed at improving Customs processes, providing greater predictability for legitimate traders and strengthening engagement between the Service and its stakeholders.
Adeniyi said effective communication remained important to building institutional trust and ensuring that stakeholders understood the objectives and benefits of reforms.
He assured the organisers of the NCS’s support for the international gathering and its contribution to its successful hosting.
Global PR leaders expected in Abuja
Speaking on the significance of the forum, Green said hosting WPRF 2026 in Nigeria would provide an opportunity to showcase the country’s cultural heritage, communication industry and innovations in public relations.
He said the event would also promote knowledge-sharing, professional collaboration and discussions on the future of communication.
Green disclosed that representatives from the Global Alliance’s 126 member countries were expected to participate in the forum.
NIPR mobilises stakeholders
Neliaku said the NIPR was engaging key institutions and stakeholders ahead of the event, noting that their participation and support would be important to the success of the international gathering.
He said the Institute’s objective was to deliver a major global professional event that would demonstrate Nigeria’s capacity to host international conferences.
The 2026 World Public Relations Forum will take place in Abuja from November 15 to 21 under the theme, “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World.”
