Pan-Atlantic University has announced the death of Professor Albert Alos, its pioneer Vice-Chancellor and Founding Dean of Lagos Business School, who passed away on September 5, 2026.
The university described Professor Alos as a visionary educator, distinguished scholar and institution builder whose contributions helped lay the foundation for the development of Pan-Atlantic University and Lagos Business School.
According to the university, Professor Alos played a significant role in establishing a culture of academic excellence, ethical leadership and service that remains central to the institution’s mission and values.
During his career, his leadership and commitment to education influenced generations of students and leaders across Nigeria, Africa and beyond.
As the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Pan-Atlantic University and Founding Dean of Lagos Business School, Professor Alos helped shape the institutions’ academic philosophy and leadership culture.
The university said his influence extended beyond the classroom, as he inspired students, faculty members, staff, alumni and colleagues through his professionalism, integrity and dedication to the common good.
Commenting on his legacy, the Vice-Chancellor of Pan-Atlantic University, Professor Enase Okonedo, said Professor Alos’s contributions remained deeply embedded in the history and ethos of the university.
“Professor Albert Alos leaves behind a legacy deeply woven into the history and ethos of Pan-Atlantic University. As a teacher, mentor and leader, he inspired countless individuals through his wisdom, integrity and service. His contributions will continue to influence generations to come.”
The university said Professor Alos’s vision and dedication contributed significantly to building an institution committed to developing competent, responsible and ethical leaders.
Pan-Atlantic University extended its condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, former students and others who knew and worked with him.
The university community also urged members of the public to remember Professor Alos in their prayers and pray for the peaceful repose of his soul.
