Union Bank of Nigeria has been recognised for its leadership in gender inclusion, winning the Most Outstanding Bank in Gender Inclusion award at the Women in Marketing and Communications Conference and Awards (WIMCA) 2026.
The award was presented on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The recognition underscores Union Bank’s commitment to promoting gender diversity and inclusion through initiatives designed to empower women, female entrepreneurs and professionals.
The Bank’s efforts include tailored financial products, capacity-building programmes, mentorship, networking opportunities and initiatives aimed at expanding women’s participation in the economy.
Themed “Grow, Give, Glow: Building Resilience for Distinction,” WIMCA 2026 brought together leading female marketing and communications professionals from across Africa to discuss industry trends, leadership, resilience and the advancement of women in the marketing and communications ecosystem.
Union Bank’s Chief Brand and Marketing Officer, Mrs Olufunmilola Aluko, was also recognised at the event, emerging among the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications.
Reacting to the recognitions, Aluko said the awards reaffirmed Union Bank’s commitment to gender inclusion as a driver of institutional excellence, innovation and sustainable growth.
She said the Bank remained committed to supporting platforms and initiatives that enable women to build meaningful careers, assume leadership positions and contribute to the development of the marketing and communications industry.
According to her, the recognition would further strengthen Union Bank’s resolve to create more opportunities for women across its workforce, customer base and the wider society.
WIMCA was established by Nigerian brand and marketing magazine Brand Communicator as a platform for celebrating female leadership and promoting greater participation by women in the brand, marketing and communications industry.
Union Bank said it would continue to support initiatives that promote women’s empowerment, inclusive growth and meaningful participation in the marketing and communications sector.
The Bank added that its commitment to gender inclusion remains central to its efforts to create opportunities for women and contribute to sustainable economic development.
