Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has approved the suspension of the Managing Director of the Imo State Housing Corporation (IMSHC), Barr. Raymond Ucheoma, less than a year after his appointment.
Ucheoma’s suspension took effect on June 2, 2026, according to a letter issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), which directed that the suspension be implemented immediately.
The letter further instructed Ucheoma to hand over all government property in his possession to the Secretary of the Corporation or the most senior officer in the agency before the close of work on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
No reason was provided in the letter for the suspension.
Ucheoma, a lawyer and former Head of Service of Imo State, was appointed Managing Director of the Imo State Housing Corporation in May 2025. His appointment was conveyed through a letter issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, headed by Chief Cosmas Iwu.
At the time of his appointment, Governor Uzodimma expressed confidence in Ucheoma’s ability to reposition the corporation.
Part of the appointment letter read: “His Excellency has enjoined the new Managing Director to bring his wealth of experience to bear in the performance of his new job.
“He looks forward to a new Imo State Housing Corporation, whose philosophy and service delivery will align with the 3R Prosperity Agenda of the present administration.”
The state government has yet to announce a replacement or provide further details regarding the suspension.
