Tragedy struck in Benin City, Edo State, following the death of a 30-year-old interior decorator, Esohe Aigbe, who reportedly succumbed to injuries sustained during an alleged attack by unidentified assailants.
According to family sources, Aigbe had gone to Ujo Street in the Ogida area of Benin City to assist a friend in decorating a funeral venue at no cost.
Relatives said that after completing the decoration work, she remained in the area when she was allegedly attacked by unknown persons.
The attack reportedly left her with severe injuries, and she was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) for urgent medical treatment.
Despite efforts by doctors and other medical personnel to save her life, she later died from the injuries she sustained.
Her remains have since been deposited in a mortuary.
Family members have called on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to justice.
