Nigerian Exchange Group has strengthened its investor education efforts through a digital engagement initiative aimed at improving financial literacy and increasing retail participation in Nigeria’s capital market.
As part of the initiative, the Group hosted an X Space session themed, “Follow the Fundamentals: A Beginner’s Guide to the Stock Market,” which attracted more than 5,000 participants, including young Nigerians, first-time investors, and retail market participants interested in understanding opportunities within the capital market.
The session featured social media investment influencer Omiete Inko-Tariah, alongside representatives of Nigerian Exchange Limited and NGX Regulation Limited.
Discussions during the session focused on simplifying key concepts relating to stock market operations, investor protection, and safe participation in the capital market. The interactive forum also gave retail investors the opportunity to engage directly with market stakeholders on issues relating to transparency, accessibility, and investor confidence.
Speaking on the initiative, Clifford Akpolo, Head of Group Communications and Partnerships at NGX Group, said deepening retail participation remains essential to building a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable capital market.
According to him, financial literacy goes beyond education and serves as a strategic tool for strengthening investor confidence, improving market accessibility, and creating long-term wealth opportunities for Nigerians. He added that the use of digital platforms allows NGX Group to connect with a new generation of investors while democratizing access to market knowledge.
The initiative forms part of NGX Group’s broader sustainability agenda under its Community pillar, which focuses on promoting financial literacy, inclusion, and economic empowerment through stakeholder-driven educational programmes.
Following the success of the session, NGX Group said it plans to continue similar digital engagements as part of its commitment to strengthening investor confidence, deepening retail participation, and building a more inclusive investment ecosystem in Nigeria.
