Killed CJTF Member

No fewer than one member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) was killed, several motorists injured, and six vehicles set ablaze when Boko Haram insurgents ambushed travelers along the Pulka-Kirawa road in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Confirming the incident on Saturday, the Senator representing Borno South, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, condemned the attack and urged military authorities to deploy more troops to safeguard Kirawa and other surrounding communities bordering Gwoza LGA and the Republic of Cameroon.
The ambush occurred on Friday around 3:00 p.m., claiming the life of one CJTF member (name withheld), while many motorists and passengers sustained injuries.
Our correspondent gathered that some victims managed to escape into the bush, while six vehicles loaded with luggage and food items were set ablaze by the attackers.
Senator Ndume expressed deep concern over the incident, lamenting that since the deadly attack on a Cameroonian military base in Kirawa, which led to the withdrawal of their forces last month, there has been no military presence in the area. He stressed that the few remaining hunters, vigilantes, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force are often overwhelmed in their efforts to secure the community.
Ndume, while appreciating the unwavering commitment and sacrifices of Nigerian troops in the ongoing fight against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists, expressed concern that residents of Kirawa and other border communities in Gwoza are at serious risk.
He noted that without any security operatives currently stationed in those areas, the people are living in constant fear and vulnerability, with no protection for their lives or property.
